Mount Moreland Gazebo, Entrance Walls and Notice Board
Mount Moreland Gazebo 3 September 1994
Extract Newsletter December 1993:
In 1992 the Mount Moreland Advisory Committee submitted plans to
DSB(Development and Services Board) with proposals to construct a Gazebo on the Village green, and two walls
on either side of the road at the entrance to Mount Moreland and a notice board, brain child of Angie Wilken. Due
to administration hassles and private ownership of this land this project was delayed for over a year.
Priscilla Oelofse and Brett Wilkinson drew up the initial draft plans.
The Gazebo will be built on the eastern side of the Village green and will comprise a large meeting area and
toilets. This will serve as a meeting place, a location for organised functions and means of raising capital
We hope this facility will encourage residents to participate in local affairs and conservation.
The building of this project will go out to tender in the very near future and be funded by the DSB.
We believe this undertaking will be of considerable benefit to Mount Moreland. Thank you to land owners Tongaat
Hulett and DSB.
1994: 12 tenders were received for this project, the winning tender was awarded to Parlay
Projects CC and work commenced shortly thereafter.
The braais were built and sponsored by Hennie Wilken.
A Playground was erected in May 2005
