The Return of the Barn Swallows 2016
Not the best weather for such an event! poured down, hazy and very wet, but people still came to
celebrate this event.
First Barn Swallows sighted 5.05pm with growing numbers by 6.05pm then the sky got an orange colour to it and the
full mass display began, Awesome numbers and the flight speed of the Barn Swallows was somewhat slower, more
graceful and enchanting to watch, spectators that braved the weather were truly rewarded. The Barn Swallows dropped
into their Lake Victoria reedbed for the night, Skies clear 6.27pm.
This year we had home made treats on sale from Megan and Eve, with an assortment of drinks from
Shapes of Africa.
Also a raffle with prizes sponsored by Umdloti Spar. Buxtons Spar and Barn Swallow Gifts
Many Thanks to Sponsors. Stall holders and spectators
This event marks the opening of the Barn Swallow season and we will be open every evening
from 5pm until sunset, entrance is R10 per person.
